Owl Stuck In Rat Trap

23rd Sept 2015

8 am

Got a call from a friend...
Owlet trapped, on rat trap glue board in Gulmohur Park, Delhi.

A colony resident had thrown in the garden a glue board with a rat stuck on it. (On stepping on the glue board, the rats get stuck on it and will remain stuck, till death.)
A small owlet (7-8 inches) spots the unlucky rat.
Unluckily, he too gets stuck on to the board of the killer glue.

His feathers and talons are full of glue.
He is bodily stuck to the adhesive.
Immobilised.
There is nothing he can do.

First, an Oil Massage. Rubbed it gently over all the gluey areas.
Followed by a soap wash.

After wash ....

He is gently dried with a hair dryer.
But he is still sticky.

He is taken to the bird hospital.
He undergoes another deep cleansing from the professionals.

His talons are super sharp and sickle shaped.
Once caught, nothing can escape the clasp of his needle sharp claws.

After the deep cleanse...

Lookin' & Feelin'
a bit better !

Zoom into his beautiful big brown eyes.  Oooh yeah !

At the hospital, the owlet spots an injured bandaged pigeon in a small cage.
The owl and the pigeon make eye contact.
The owl's pupils dilate and his big round eyes open wider.
The pigeon in the cage begins to nervously shiver.

Owlet is put back inside the shoe box and taken home with me.
Hopefully, with a few days of rest and recovery,
he will be back in Gulmohar Park, beside his family,
in his true form and glory.
