The Hawk Moth

Unnoticed,
until they fly erratic
around the street lights
in the darkness of the night.

Unnoticed,
till you notice their handiwork
of small holes
in the woollens you had stored.

Unnoticed,
unlike their glorified cousins
the butterflies
most moths work at night.

If only we'd take time
to stop,
look, listen, smell,
moths have interesting stories to tell
with interesting patterns
dramatic colours, unusual behaviour,
and their role of nocturnal pollinators as well.
