Jaley Pey Namak - Inter-Spousal Communication Part - 3 (Adding salt to Injury)

JALEY PEY NAMAK

((Adding salt to Injury))

I was born hairy.
As a scrawny new born, most of my body weight was contributed by the excess hair on my body.
Years later, with the evolution of permanent hair removal by laser, I was tempted to rush in for it. But I decided to wait and watch for the effects of this technology.
After waiting and (hardly) watching for many years as family chores preceded my hair despair, 20 years later I finally decided to go in for it.

I talked to some friends and more friends who had undergone this treatment.  Since most had positive results, I decided to go in for it..... upper lip hair removal.
The long years of wait had definitely helped as the technology had advanced and the price had reduced.
Since it was only mooch removal, it was just a 5 mins. session. Nobody from my family missed me during the sessions and even 3 sessions later no one realised that I was occasionally moochless.
At the 4th sitting, I told the doc that there were many tiny hair remaining and recurring. So the doc increased the intensity and.....I got burned.
Yes, I had a burnt upper lip!
Some blister blobs and patches of red burn marks were clearly visible.
For 2 days no one from my family noticed.
(I wondered if it was the house lighting that prevented them from seeing the obvious, or did they think of it as mosquito bites.)
On the 3rd day, my kids noticed it and they were squealing in pain for mommy dearest.
On the 4th day my husband saw it.
“What the hell is that“?  he asked.
“I got burned during laser”.
LASER !!!  Why the hell did you do it ?  Who did you go to?  This mark will never go now“, he yelled in the shock of my scarred upper lip.
“It’ll  subside in a few days. I am applying a special ointment for burns.
It’s my upper lip and since I cant see it, its not troubling me. As long as you didn’t cause it, I am OK with it.”
“But I am not ok with it!” his voice in crescendo mode now.

“And why are you spending so much money when we are in a cash crunch?"
“What do you think is the cost” ? I asked him.
“I don’t know. How much did you pay?” he asked back.
“Well, 'YOU' tell me.....since you are in the beauty & wellness business, and so aware of the various technologies and its intricacies”, I said.
It seem to have aggravated him even more.
“It must be at least 15000” he blurted agitatedly.
“My dear, so far I’ve paid just Rs. 4000 for 4 sessions” I told him very proudly.
“WHAT!  ONLY Rs. 4000 for 4 sessions !  No wonder you got burned!”
I was stumped.
I stood silent.
My upper lip was hairless but mentally I was wordless.

It seemed a clear case of "jaley pey namak"..... koi bhi kimmat pey.
(adding salt to injury... at any cost!)
