THE BLUE ROCK 'P'

Have you ever taken time to notice Mr. Blue Rock 'P' ?
Er....excuse me, who the hell is he ?

A common sight
and part of every nook n street
Mr. Blue Rock P is mostly seen
On window ledge or statue head
or perhaps nesting in your balcony.

Have you ever taken time to notice
the colours of  Mr. P ?
Huh?
I see no colour other than that drab grey on he.

Look well and you will see
blue grey (except for his feet)
with a glossy iridescent neck
shimmering
purple blue and green
have you ever noticed two black bars on his wings
and his legs....
are they reddish or pink?

Have you ever taken time to observe
how lovey-dovey Mr. P can be ?
Hah!
Go on tell me the story of how lovey-dovey he can be ?

Every morning he courts his mate
bowing and crooning through cooing,
Inflating his throat
his iridescent neck he boasts
strutting around his madame in circles
Impressing or pacifying is hard to tell
persevere he does and manages to woo her well
gently luring her into his love girdle.

Have you ever cared to hear
how terrific a navigator is he?
Hmmm... dumb as I thought he'd be, tell me more about Mr. P.

His navigational abilities are extraordinary
Many have served us humans,
honourably
throughout history
in wartime and maritime rescue operations
they ferried messages
over measureless destinations
irrespective of recognition or medal decorations
mapless and relentless for us they flew
thanks to their exceptional navigation.

Henceforth,
Do take some time to appreciate and smile at Mr. P
if lucky, he may be perching on your balcony.
