Democracy or De-mock-crazy ? -

Since a while now
I am in despair
with the selfishness, indiscipline and cheating minds in us so alive
but it has taken a foolish decade 
to realise 
how easily right can be wronged
and wrong can become right
And that too get support all along. 

India has progressed.
No Doubt.

Swanky cars, dazzling malls,
delicacy restaurants, plush cinema halls

have drafted a new look for our cities growing tall

What about us?
Have we progressed at all?

Indiscipline, cheating and selfishness
continue to remain the norm.

Proudly we state India is democratic 
and strongly we believe in our own democracy

Self rule is good for ourselves 
Unfortunately, the same doesn't apply for all.

We misuse our freedom 
to pee, spit and drive anywhere we want

dump garbage on footpath or playground 
make it a dump yard all around. 

It is our habitual right to jump queues
irrespective of short or long 

Peep, stalk and threaten the neighbours
seems as simple as singing a song.

Discounts or purchase points is our right
for which we fiercely fight, to gather free goods all along

as well as stealthily encroach surroundings
that never to us did belong.

Regardless of what is right or wrong
we fear not the cops nor the law 

under the table we pay
and simply carry on.

  

Indiscipline and cheating is our birth right!
and has been so from the time we were born

Unfortunately, the ill effects of bad civic sense
does not haunt us at all.

We the educated
continue to remain uneducated

as common sense, consideration and democracy
have not been ingrained at all.
